WELCOME TO TEH KUNG FU THREAD FEEL FREE TO POST YOUR OWN FINDINGS/LIKINGS/STUDIES
Wing chun is a close quarters combat system developed by monks, which later was passed down to a woman who had to fight for her own right to marry who she wanted. She of course kicked the shit out of a thug that challenged her to a fight, saying that if he won, she must marry him, and if she won... well... she did, and she married another man. Great story, however this is just a compilation of wing chun style, great style for the defensive kinds of people, not so much aggressive but designed to deflect blows, from hitting you directly, while at the same time providing an opening for a counter attack. Attack and defense in the same motion is the correct way to use wing chun. enjoy. EDIT Chi Sao (sticky hands) Real Fight:

This is the form of wing chun stance, it looks ridiculous, and usually people who fight wing chun don't fight standing like this exactly, however this is to build strength in your stance, so that when it comes time to move, your thighs calves and everything inbetween are all calibrated to help you move from where you push off the ground- to dodge by simply leaning back, and leaning to the side, use hands to further offset opponent, and you have a deflection with almost 0 effort.
wing chun is just one art, however it is a STRONG base to start with, it's what bruce lee based his jeet kune do off of, I will post jeet kune do too.
Now, if you follow any philosophy, you will succeed.
This is not to make fighters of people, but to give people fists to protect what's right, at least the opportunity, that or the will and confidence to deal with any encounters if it unfortunately happens.
if interest, just do exactly as master wong states... I'm no expert however I am very confident in taking it one blow at a time, and striking back with a counter attack. It's not hard, just takes quickness.
Aside from master wong's studies, it's important you understand 'center line theory' it's the primary pillar in any martial art.
Center Line theory:
just other stuff, oldskool style:
be inspired, jeet kune do is next- fighting the way that is natural.

Video is old but self explanitory enjoy Jeet Kune Do was founded by none other than Bruce Lee himself. A student of Grandmaster Yip Man himself, he became a proficient in wing chun. he went on to fighting and usually defeating anyone who challenged him, afterwards he would usually then get consent to learn some of the other guy's kung fu/. By doing this he was able to piece together a simple, direct and very effective fighting style which he named "Jeet Kune Do" which stands for: "Way of the Intercepting Fist". (Chen Zhen vs 50+ Japanese)***** (no embed) ***** A great practicioner of various schools, including JKD and demonstrator.

CAPOEIRA(no embed) break dance kung fu, created by slaves and people alike to hide their martial arts in dance. Interesting stuff, not to mention, the most power/efficient kicks come from Capoeira. It has speed, precision, power and attacks can come from anywhere. every move is based off the "Ginga" GingaIn the movies... compilation... now tell me that shit ain't cool!

uploaded a multi-episode biography of leung jan, basically the guy featured in the first video "kung fu in the movies" wearing the white outfit defeating the tiger claw fighter.
it's in the first post, amongst all the wing chun stuff, it's just a link so make sure you try to find it, hard to spot, it's a full hour and 45 minutes of a good kung fu story.
EDIT: it may cut from scene to scene from time to time, but that's when it'd usually cut to commercial. that or it's leaving out other storylines. What is primarily shown in this hour and 45 minutes is the story of Bi, Dr. Leung Jan's son.
EDIT2: if interested, here's the first episode, part 1, go ahead and copy and paste the title of the first video, and change the ep# and p# to whatever may be next. there should be 21 episodes total.
good luck searching though, it might be a pain.
The title can be different for the next part... like instead of what's up there in that title, it would be: wing chun dr leung jan's life in foshan china ep 1 pt 2
